Which regime do you want to overthrow so you can be a dictator?
(Just joking, these things are awesome!)

At this exact moment? Ours.

who doesn’t want 2,000 psi hydraulic lines running throughout the interior?
![]() 05/02/2018 at 12:15 |

Stunning - but there is *one* thing that I would change on that car.
The tires.
Wonder what the ask is?
![]() 05/02/2018 at 12:16 |

Not a clue. Six figures is all the more I can narrow it down. And I actually really like the big white walls.
![]() 05/02/2018 at 12:20 |

So you’re saying there is nothing on the car you would change...
Except that you would change the price....
So there IS something....
Heh.

I would guess in the $150-200k range. I see one for $300k but it’s a Pullman.
I like wide whites on the right car, but this one seems both too new and too German for that, personally. I’d go with narrow whitewalls.

Jay Leno’s video on his is excellent. Amazing engineering. Amazing and terrifying.
![]() 05/02/2018 at 12:25 |

His has the modern running gear from some sort of AMG, which I have to admit would be nice.
![]() 05/02/2018 at 12:29 |

Actually his 600 is the original motor except he put on a ceramic supercharger.
He was going to put a modern AMG motor in his 300SEL, but decided against it when commentariats pleaded that he not remove the original motor.

Ah, that sounds familiar. I watched the videos for both cars but it’s been a year or so.

Well I just left them a message so when I find out the price I’ll post. :p

I know MB offered wide whites on normal cars until the 1965 model year. I think a wider whitewall may have been available on 600s for several years later, but I am not sure if it would be this wide.

I used to live a few blocks from them. I feel like I need to go down there and see if they have it out.

Haven’t heard back yet, but was trying to research the chassis # and found it listed at $178,900 on another site. Car doesn’t seem to be in the M-100 Registry, so in my v-mail I pretended to be smart and asked about records, history etc., since provenance is critical on a car like this.
And yes, work is slow, why do you ask?
![]() 05/02/2018 at 13:51 |

either this or the Citroen SM is the “most car” car ever made.

Ayyyyy yeah take over. Rename the US “Party Island”. I volunteer to be in charge of the navy. We will focus less on water-based warfare and more on billfishing.

Alright first order is selling off our old and busted fleet and contracting Viking Yachts to build us a bunch of sport fishers. 60’ and up.

I’ve seen them on fintails, pontons and Adenauers, and it seems appropriate there, I just don’t like it as much on this one.

Oh, and there’s a house near me that has an entire fleet of Mercedes-Benz’s, most of which are under cover whenever I ride my bike by.
Yesterday, one of them was uncovered for the first time that I’ve seen - W116 AMG. All black, of course, but the guy came out of the house looking to be in a hurry before I could grab my phone to take a picture. Still don’t know what the others are, other than a W124 coupe that’s never covered (but wears antique vehicle plates, as does the W116).

It’s a stretch for 1965+ cars and can look like an anachronism. I’d prefer a thinner whitewall here too.
![]() 05/02/2018 at 23:34 |
|
It would be easy to fix this if we could afford the $179k ask.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 09:58 |
|
Yep, you’ll be out under 2K I am sure, which is probably an oil change for one of these.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 09:59 |
|
It would be cheaper than even making direct eye contact with the hydraulics...
![]() 05/03/2018 at 10:07 |
|
2K is probably the diagnostic fee for a window operating too slow.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 10:19 |
|
Speaking of which, I haven’t pored over the listing yet, but...
![]() 05/03/2018 at 10:19 |

Maybe this one will be a little cheaper...

I think a 600 should be black. Also, that one scares be more since it’s all-original and has done quite a bit of sitting.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 11:45 |

Agree - also, I made a separate post on that car. It’s pretty, and I love these things - but this one will be a complete black hole for the buyer. Air suspension leaks, hydraulics leak, 2 horns don’t work, AC doesn’t work, paint mismatches, etc etc etc.
